Buz Brown has over thirty years of technology commercialization and venture creation experience, including large and small companies, academic and venture capital roles, with particular expertise in early-stage high growth companies. Buz was the founder and/or CEO of over a dozen currently operating companies. He received his B.A. from Colby College, his Ph.D. from the University of Rochester, and was a post-doctoral fellow and faculty member at Yale University.

Erik Meuleman has over 20 years of experience within the area of technology development for separation processes and has lead numerous international innovation projects with teams based in Europe, Brazil, Australia, Japan, China and USA. Erik has authored 15 peer-reviewed papers and holds three patents. He received his Ph.D. and M.Sc. from the University of Twente in the Netherlands and is an adjunct professor at the Federation University of Australia.

Project Manager

Position Summary

The Project Manager will contribute to and help manage a team of engineers on various projects aimed at achieving commercial integration of carbon capture facilities. This position will require a hands-on individual with capability to follow the standard Project Management Professional (PMP) methodology to produce and maintain high-quality schedules, track risks, and assist with budget oversight. They will be expected to manage multiple projects while maintaining a high-quality work product. Additional roles and responsibilities include:

•      Creating long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines.

•      Delegating tasks on the project to employees best positioned to complete them through coordination with their supervisors as required.

•      Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project.

•      Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.

•      Communicating with executives to keep the project aligned with their goals.

•      Performing quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected.

•      Adjusting schedules and targets on the project as needs or financing for the project change.

•      Understanding technical concepts to generate & review reports, for both internal and external audiences (including formatting, punctuation, grammar, syntax, etc.)

•      Developing and maintaining project risk matrix for all assigned projects.

•      Representing ION with key project partners and customers to facilitate effective project execution.


Qualifications

•     3+years of experience leading project teams.

•     Detail oriented with exceptional analytical skills.

•     Excellent ability to quickly assess problems and formulate strategies to overcome issues.

What We Offer

•     The salary for this position generally ranges between $100,000-$120,000 annually. This range is an estimate based on potential qualifications and operational needs and may vary above and below the stated amounts.

•     Additionally, this position will receive a grant of stock options and is eligible for an annual bonus based on performance of the individual and the company.

Summary:

In the role of Director, Human Resources, you will be overseeing the administration of the human resources function for ION Clean Energy and be responsible for developing and ensuring effective implementation of plans, systems, policies and processes for workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent management and development, employee engagement, legal compliance and record keeping, employee relations, employee compensation and benefits, and performance management.

 

Responsibilities:

Employee Policies and Legal Compliance

●     In conjunction with senior management, support the initiative to improve and maintain HR policies, SOPs, and necessary HR documents. Ensure adherence to policies and provide training and support to the organization.

●     Partner with General Counsel to deliver an exceptional Employee Relations and Compliance program supporting employees in accordance with applicable employment laws, the Employee Handbook, various reporting obligations, and required legal notifications and submissions.

●     Keep up to date with industry trends and best practices to ensure the company remains competitive in attracting and retaining top talent.

●     Keep up to date with the legislative changes to ensure the company remains compliant with legal requirements.

●     Maintain data integrity and confidentiality of payroll, HR, and other files.

 

Recruiting & Onboarding

●     Partner with business hiring managers in the recruitment of new employees, including applicant screening interviews, logistical support, onboarding and training and review and selection of any 3rd party recruiting/staffing resources required.

●     Ensure job descriptions are documented for all positions and reviewed by new employees.

●     Identify priority needs and requirements of Human Resources team at ION to identify and staff the development of the Human Resources department.

 

Employee Benefits and Compensation Administration

●     Assist senior management in identifying, evaluating and implementing high-quality employee benefit offerings.

Engineering

Process Control Engineer

Full Time

Position Summary

The PCE will contribute to a team of engineers on Feasibility Studies, FEEDs or detailed design projects for the integration of carbon capture facilities at power and industrial sites. This position will require a hands-on individual with capability to produce high-quality process controls engineering deliverables according to a schedule and within budget that meet current project/client requirements.  They will develop solutions to complex problems that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity.

The PCE must have knowledge of industrial, process, manufacturing, field instrumentation, distributed control system technology, PLCs and batch process manufacturing in all the following project phases:

•     Scope Generation

•     Design Basis

•     Requirements Documentation

•     Implementation

•     Systems Integration

•     Testing and On-site Startup

 

The PCE will also be expected to:

•     Draw out and document customer requirements that form the basis of the controls scope of work.

•     Design, develop and implement control systems (logic software and controls hardware) to meet machine and integrated system requirements.

•     Assist in the development of design standards.

•     Write instrument/valve specs when required.

•     Be involved with vendor recommendations and selection.

•     Define commercial components needed to meet project needs, including acquiring quotes and lead times from suppliers for critical items.

•     Provide support during design, build and testing phase of the project.

•     Participate and contribute to technical issues related to EIC for ION’s pilot facilities and pilot operations.

•     Conduct due diligence of detailed EIC designs to ensure alignment with ION’s operational theories and operational philosophies.

•     Provide clear communication with the supervisor and the project manager regarding schedule and scope implications throughout the projectlifecycle.

•     Assist in the Factory and Site Acceptance Testing of control software, as required.

 

Qualifications

•     Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in engineering or technical field from an accredited college or university required.

•     4+ years of relevant experience is desirable.

•     A solid understanding of process controls system design including electrical schematic generation, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, cause & effect tables, logic diagrams and general instrument & electrical assembly processes.

•     Experience in generating control strategies and guiding the release of a control system from development through deployment.

•     Working knowledge of CAD software.  Ability to create controls/electrical designs and drawings using computer-assisted design, make revisions to designs, and update old drawings to new formats.

•     Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)required.
